I have been asked to set up the reporting for external banner ads for 6 different sites to a number of URLs on the company website. The ads from each site will direct to the same 15 URLs on the company website, so to differentiate these they have had added code to the end of each one to capture the different sites the clickthrough came from.
e.g. - URL 1 on Company Site
http://www.juniper.net/uk/en/dm/byod/itvirtualevent.html?subject=Site1
http://www.juniper.net/uk/en/dm/byod/itvirtualevent.html?subject=Site2
http://www.juniper.net/uk/en/dm/byod/itvirtualevent.html?subject=Site3
My first thought was to set up query strings to capture the specific code that is being used by each site "?subject=Site1" "........Site2", "etc", but I wasn't sure if this will also allow me to capture which of the individual URLs is also being visited each time an ad is clicked on.
e.g. - different URLs on Company Site
http://www.juniper.net/uk/en/dm/byod/itvirtualevent.html?subject=Site1
http://www.juniper.net/uk/en/forms/security-best-practices-wp/?subject=Site1
http://www.juniper.net/uk/en/dm/byod/pdf/3510359-en.html?subject=Site1
Being a complete novice to tracking I was hoping someone might be able to advise the best way I can set this up to capture both the original source of the clickthrough as well as which of the URLs is being visited each time. All assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ian
