Re: PURL and Data Lookup

Hi Prasanna,

Thanks for the reply to Ai's question. Is there a way to prioritize cookie information over PURL? So if the "clicker" is a known contact, the form fills in with their information. This would solve a great deal of headache on the part of companies and consumers. Speaking personally, it is very frustrating when a coworker unsubscribes me from an email because I forwarded it to them...

Being able to prioritize the cookie would alleviate a few problems:

  • Report multiple blind form submits / downloads per user when it was actually a second person who clicked a forwarded link
    • Depending on URL tagging, this could also help identify influencers in an email segment (people who forward to lots of other people)
  • Landing page forms would not be pre-populated with erroneous information if someone forwards an email or copy-paste's a link
  • Unsubscribe link could go to a subscription management page and protect the original email recipient from the stupidity of their coworkers

It just seems to me that this is one of the biggest problems with how Eloqua, and most email programs for that matter, handle user profiling. I can't help but to think there has to be a workable solution...

Best,

Brad
