Re: Capacity of Dynamic Content

Hello Anu

I'm not aware of any limits around the number of pieces of dynamic content you can have, I've certainly got many more than 20 pieces of dynamic content in our instance of Eloqua. All images you use are sourced from the Images library in the Component Library of which I have thousands as of today. I don't think you need to worry about capacity.

But I would encourage you to start with a less complex plan for your nurturing campaigns. Dynamic Content is a powerful tool to help with the personalisation of your campaigns and is driven by the attributes you have on the Eloqua Contact. For example, you can present various images based on the location of a contact. A Contact in Paris will see an image of the chanselise, a contact in Sydney will see an image of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. In addition, Dynamic Content can deliver specific blocks of text that relate to their profile.

Personalisation is a different function to Dynamic Content and enables you to include specific details about that contact e.g. you can include mention of the specific product or service you provide them - the list of possibilities is endless.

The reason I suggest you start with a less complex plan is that customers are fickle by nature, they change roles, their preferences alter etc. The last thing you want is to have a dynamic content plan in place that is so micro in nature that it excludes people or perhaps makes assumptions that could cause people to be confused about what you're saying.

Remember too that you need to set a default for each of the dynamic content pieces you create. This covers the scenario where you may not have specific content on the Eloqua Contact i.e. Country may be missing from the Contact, so the default image or text will be inserted in those comms e.g. email or landing page.

You may also consider simply creating one email and then "saving-as" to create a similar email for a different audience. For example, our monthly newsletter goes to four segments Customers, Prospects, Oracle staff and general business partners. I could use dynamic content to create one email and then deliver the relevant email based on the Contact, however I find the message varies and it's easier to simply create four emails and include them on the one Campaign Canvas.

So, you have options - it's just working out which is the easiest and most effective for you based on your campaign objectives.

I did a blog post this morning that talks to integration and the power it gives Marketers. This plays to dynamic content from the point of view of the recency of the data you're using to deliver dynamic content. As a contact's details change in your CRM and having that data marry with their behavioural data i.e. Digital Body Language, there are many things that can change what they see when you overlay your comms with dynamic content.

Good luck.

Cheers
