Thanks Peter. I'm surprised that everyone hasn't run across this issue and Eloqua didn't resolve it long ago! Having to engineer a solution for this problem was unexpected for us.
Since we our main driver is user analytics, we'll be passing the user id as a hidden form field and capturing it as part of the contact record. This is the only way that we can identify events across the two different domains as coming from the same user.
