Hello - I've started using the LinkedIn Signon and realise there's quite a bit of thinking that needs to be done to really get the most out of this Cloud Connector.
Firstly, you have to set it up correctly. You need a bunch of Hidden Fields on your Eloqua form to capture the LinkedIn data. Then using Form Processing steps, you need to map that data to Eloqua Contact Fields. I've found some of the data puzzling. The "PIcture URL" appears useless. Has anyone worked out how to do anything with it? Here's an example: http://m.c.lnkd.licdn.com/mpr/mprx/0_tlYgpKhPUNGK1hc_tcaCp-G0J-zxPhn_r1EGp-_i6c37ukTiOBmlttcDcyv8rFB This should take you to a picture of me :-)
Date of birth is delivered as "617" - that's June 17th. The LinkedIn Current Position Start date is delivered as "6/2013" - that's a bit more obvious - June 2013. As for the "LinkedIn ID" I need to talk to my tech team about how we can use that - it's "qD1afNSKWX". Looking at a LinkedIn discussion group, this ID appears useless. It seems what LinkedIn are providing is a bit of a smoke screen :-) I did get the impression that for those of us who have had a LinkedIn profile for some time, we may have a number. However, newer LinkedIn members may have their email address as their "LInkedIn ID". I'm not sure though - does anyone know for sure?
The good data is certainly First Name, Last Name, Company Name, Job Title. I choose not to use email address because we're generally engaging with this person in the context of their employer, so I'm after their work email address. I believe most people would use a personal email address for LinkedIn. (As a side note - the Twitter Signon seems to only provide a person's name as one field. e.g. when you map the Twitter Name field to your Eloqua Contact First Name - it puts the first and last name into the one field. So, probably not that helpful - unless you can work out how to split that information)
When you access the LinkedIn Signon Cloud Connector from the Landing Page Editor it shows you all of the available fields, about 22 from memory, from LinkedIn. Keep in mind you must have these hidden fields on your Eloqua Form and then using Form Processing Steps, map the data to your Eloqua Contacts.
I'm building a How To Video to help our customers, when I'm done I'll post a link here.
