I think the role will change - and become more of an editor, or playwright - like role Jocelyn is referring to. It is amazing how someone takes a lot of posts and brings the core value down to a tidbit that might be tweeted, or oppositely expands on a story providing a lot of compelling chapters in illustrative and thought provoking, language.
I also think people like the 'trilogy' concept that happens a lot in movies like Twilight, Hunger Games and most recently Deception (they are making additions to Deception)
A great content director can mix it up with both.
