Staples Advantage is the business-to-business division of Staples, Inc. serving mid-size to large global enterprises and the health care, education and government sectors. To support our growth, we are looking to improve our email marketing strategy in order to engage customers, increase sales and product penetration yielding to improvement in retention rate.
Position Summary
This position will part of the Online Marketing team which supports Staples Advantage growth initiatives with online solutions that drive brand awareness, increased sales and customer acquisition and retention. The Senior Manager will oversee the Staples Advantage email program for. This pivotal position is responsible for growing the email file, transforming the email program to increase relevance, engagement and revenue. The Senior Manager will work closely with marketing content owners, the database team, the agency and the email service provider to deliver on these objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- With the guidance of the Online Marketing Director defines a clear vision and strategy for the email program. The Senior manager will be responsible for the execution of the strategy and accountable to the results
- In collaboration with the product, e-commerce and database teams develop a pipeline and testing strategy for new email campaigns (such as triggered and personalized emails)
- Work with content owners and analytical team to improve reach and effectiveness of campaigns at driving sales
- Collaborates with the sales and business teams to grow the size and health of the customer file
- Accountable for email vehicle metrics, establish goals for open rates, click and incremental sales per email
- Drives innovation and adoption of new technologies and capability sets partnering with vendors, IT, marketing and ecommerce team; stay abreast of industry shifts and dynamics
- Acts as email subject matter expert for the Staples Advantage marketing team
- Build annual email marketing plan
- Oversee partnership with email service provider to ensure strategy execution and migration to modern marketing
- Bachelor Degree
- 5-8 Years of related experience
- 2-3+ Years experience in email or related ecommerce experience
Preferred
- Masters Degree
- Highly proficient in technical aspects of email, ecommerce, and database operations
- Strong leader who is able to articulate vision for the email program and bring others along. Able to influence partners and senior executives. Able to communicate email results and best practices in a compelling, persuasive way
- Strong analytic skills. Able to identify key analyses and tests required for email improvement and and draw implications from test results
- Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of senior management and work cross functionally within a complex matrixed organization
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and creative problem-solving activities with strong ability to implement through team to drive execution
